just got directed to a post on Mr Paw's blog, and I really agree with this.
Proverbs 26:18-19
18 Like a madman shooting
firebrands or deadly arrows
19 is a man who deceives his neighbor
and says, “I was only joking!”
these verses talk about sarcasm. and it's so true, we sometimes hurl insults at others under the pretense of "only joking". we bring up their weak points in public to make the other party look worse, or to make yourself look better.
the article on SQ's post states that when sarcasm is allowed to dwell, friends can't feel free to be vulnerable. so friends compete against one another with their sarcasm, in a constantly intensifying game of one-upsmanship. and this sarcasm hides hurt hidden in someone, hurt that will lash out at the first opportunity it gets.
I promise I'll try to be less sarcastic!
